Step 2. Plaid issues a permanent access token, stored encrypted (pgcrypto) in our DB
Step 3. Holdings sync runs every 6 hours: 0 1,7,13,19 * * *
Step 4. Cockpit Holdings panel auto-fills with live data, grouped by institution
Step 5. Add another institution any time — the same flow stacks side-by-side

Privacy & security

Plaid is SOC 2 Type II + Chase’s tier-1 FDX partner. Plaid privacy
Access tokens are encrypted at rest (pgp_sym_encrypt) and never returned to the browser
Disconnect any account here — we call Plaid’s itemRemove to revoke server-side

Methodology & data handling: Plaid Link issues a public token from your browser → /api/plaid/create-link-token. After you select your institution, Plaid returns a short-lived public token that we exchange server-side at /api/plaid/exchange-public-token for a long-lived access_token stored in Supabase (encrypted at rest via pgp_sym_encrypt). Holdings sync runs in /api/plaid/sync-holdings on a 6-hour cron. Disconnect via /api/plaid/unlink-item — calls Plaid’s itemRemove + soft-deletes the local row (preserves audit trail).
